The Division of Planning is seeking a talented individual to develop growth strategies to serve a city that prioritizes progressive zoning reform. You will join the Long-range Planning team responsible for implementing Lexington's recently adopted Comprehensive Plan which calls for incorporating sustainable development best practices into land use regulations. This position is responsible for preparing community engagement strategies and integrating a wide range of perspectives into proposed policies, plans, and studies. While a formal urban planning background is not required, you should desire to be highly engaged in the mission of long-range planning, policy and code reform, and community engagement.

Site / Landscape Designer

Element Design is looking for a Full-Time Site / Landscape Designer for our Lexington, KY office. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience and be a team player who is willing to learn from and work with a highly talented and experienced team.

Responsibilities and Duties include providing project support for a variety of projects and scales, ranging from master planning through development of construction drawings and construction administration. A Bachelor’s and / or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture is required, along with a solid foundation of strong drafting skills and experience with construction drawings. In addition, proficiency with AutoCad and Adobe Creative Suite software and experience with 3D modelling and rendering software such as Sketchup and Lumion is desired.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated and able to work independently on multiple tasks, with a willingness to perform a variety of activities as needed by the team. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent design skills, are key.

The Tennessee RiverLine, an initiative of the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture, seek motivated and dynamic entry level candidates with an educational background in landscape architecture, architecture, or related field to join its growing team as Planning and Design Specialists. Candidates are expected to possess the knowledge and skills necessary to advance the implementation of the Tennessee RiverLine vision by assisting in the delivery of planning and design initiatives that are aligned with its mission, guiding principles and strategic plan. Successful candidates will hold full-time staff positions at the University of Tennessee with a 100% appointment to the Tennessee RiverLine. These individuals will work with and report to members of the Planning and Design team.

The Planning and Design Specialist supports the curation of the Tennessee RiverLine vision’s ongoing development at regional and local scales and acts as a creative and technical resource to Tennessee RiverLine team members and diverse project partners. Through September 2023, their primary responsibility will be aiding in a scope of work outlined in a USDA Rural Placemaking Innovation Challenge cooperative agreement that has been awarded to the Tennessee RiverLine.  In collaboration with peer planning and design staff and other members of the Tennessee RiverLine team, they will assume primary responsibility to this scope by:

  • Assisting in the development of community outreach program (652 to YOU) summary reports in written and graphic formats

  • Summarizing recommendations for programming and placemaking projects that advance the Tennessee RiverLine vision

  • Assisting in the development and communication of conceptual site designs for priority placemaking projects in written and graphic formats

  • Designing and fabricating exhibitions of outreach program outcomes   

  • Collaborating with planning and design staff and other members of the Tennessee RiverLine team

Brandstetter Carroll Inc. is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, self-driven Landscape Architect to function as a project manager with experience in park system planning, park design, public building site design, and streetscapes. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise staff in production of planning and design documents, including park and site design, construction documents, master plans, color rendering, 3D computer models, landscape planting plans, etc.

  • Manage projects as the primary contact with clients and other consultants.

  • Review, analyze, and summarize previously prepared studies and reports.

  • Prepare design and planning recommendations.

  • Work closely with the other staff to prepare planning and design documents.

  • Communicate with outside agencies and clients in exchanging data and manage that data in accordance with guidelines.

  • Can be relied upon as a productive team member.

  • Must be able to work on multiple projects at the same time.

  • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Present projects to clients.

  • Participate in marketing efforts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS

  • Candidate should have minimum 5 years’ experience in similar planning, design, and project management services.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture required, with licensure preferred.
