Position: Park Designer

Description/Details:

The purpose of this classification is to provide professional expertise and creativity to design and manage capital projects for park land development using best management practices and environmental sustainability. This position designs capital construction projects on parks such as playgrounds, trails, or other park amenities. This position is responsible for ensuring designs meet applicable codes and regulations.

Essential functions include:

  • Develops and produces preliminary design concepts, final presentation designs, and graphic exhibits to

  • communicate ideas with the use of computer software, such as computer assisted design (CAD)

  • software

  • Conducts GIS mapping, site analysis, and field inventory assessment for capital projects

  • Develops and refines designs and compiles construction documents for bidding

  • Manages project design by consultants

  • Produces project design and construction cost estimates

  • Facilitates correspondence and communication within government and to the general public as needed

  • Performs related work as assigned

Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in landscape architecture and 2 years of landscape architecture experience. Candidates must obtain their landscape architecture license within the first 6 months of employment.
